Pilots N Paws Trip: Elizabethtown, KY to Anniston, AL

Our most recent Pilots N Paws flight took place this weekend when we had the opportunity to transport a very special puppy. Rowdy was a one day old Boxer puppy who was born with a cleft lip. His mother had a large litter and with Rowdy's feeding challenges he was off to a challenging start. His owner found a foster home in Alabama that specializes in cleft lips and palets. We were privileged to transport Rowdy to his foster home where he could get the special help he needed and ultimately find a forever home.

Rowdy's ears and eyes were not open yet - which made the noise inside the plane a non-issue. He was the quietest canine passenger we've had yet!

Rowdy enjoyed an in-flight meal of puppy formula (sorry, no peanuts!)

His new foster mother was so happy to see him and we have received several photos from her since we arrived home. He's settling in well and getting the care he needs.

While in Anniston we had a fantastic lunch at Alabamas oldest saloon - The Peerless Saloon. https://www.thepeerlesssaloonandgrille.com. The interior of the saloon is beautiful. The massive mirror-backed mahogany bar was featured at the 1904 St. Louis World's Fair, and has been in the building since 1906.

So, we bought a plane just before the COVID 19 pandemic began here in the United States.

Great timing, right?

The silver lining; the plane has created more opportunities for us than we could have ever imagined.

We are two empty nesters with four grown children living all over the United States. Even though we each have two full time careers we are intentionally making time for travel, and for each other. We are based in Southern Indiana. Although much of our travel is to the cities where our children live we also make time for other trips as able.

This blog is a way for us to share our travels and to also archive our journeys; at last.
